20th Madurai Film Festival 2018: Archana Padmini

Selection jury of IDSFFK 2018.

Curator of the film festival ‘9 pencinemakal’, a package of nine malayalam shortfictions directed by women, organized by Women In Cinema collective and Minimal Cinema .
Working in Independent Cinema.

Acted in films like Prathap Joseph’s ‘Avalkkoppam’ , which was screened  in Delhi International Film Festival and Lose angels Film Festival.

Anil Thomas’s ‘Minnaminung’, in which Surabhi, an artist from Kerala won national award for best actress, Ansar Shaiju’s ‘Viragam’, Don Palathara’s ‘Vithu’and a few student projects from KR Narayanan National Institute of Visual science and Arts, Kottayam.

Assisted in the film called ‘Aedan, the garden of desire’ directed by the national award winning director for documentary (‘Kapila’), Sanju Surendran. The film was an adaptation of the three short stories written by S. Hareesh.

Working in multiple  roles for a performance based play, ‘Twelve Machines’, a highly abstract and absurd play which explores an individual’s constant conflict with society on multiple levels. Directed by Kannan Unni (National School of Drama). Also assisted in costume and property design.

‘Twelve Machines’ was performed in the PRD National Theatre Festival 2017 and Surya National Theatre Festival, both held at Trivandrum.

Performed as an actor in the play ‘ Prethabhaaashanam’ , an adaptation of the short story by C. Ayyappan. Conceived and directed by Vijesh (School of Drama).

Won first prize in one act play competition in Mahatma Gandhi University Youth Festival held at kottayam during March 2015.

Working as an executive of a film society named ‘Montage’ at Malappuram, registered under the Federation of Film societies of India.

Part of the organizing team of Signs International Film Festival 2014, 2015, designed by FFSI and Kerala State Chalachithra Academy.

Academia

Master of Arts in English Literature from Maharajas College, Ernakulam, under MG University.
Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, under Calicut University.

Worked as Student Development Executive in ASAP (Additional Skill Acquisition Programme), a project of the Higher Education Department, Kerala.

Presented a paper in the UGC National Seminar on Popular Culture and Literature on the topic, ‘The Discourse of Surveillance; Queer Blogs as Resistance’, conducted by the  Post Graduate Department of  English, KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri on August 2015.
