Amma's Pride

Amma's Pride chronicles Valli's trials and tribulations as she watches her trans daughter Srija fall in love, marry, and fight for state and societal recognition of her marriage in a traditional small town in Tamil Nadu. When societal pressures push Srija’s marriage to the edge, Valli clings to the hope of a miracle.

Confined to a wheelchair, Girija forms a quiet, profound bond with fellow resident Nitin at a Pune old age home. Their growing closeness unsettles both their families and the authorities. Flower From the Sky is a tender Marathi short film about love that defies judgement, age, and the ordinary.


The Story of Yuvraj and Shajahan

Yuvraj, a young village boy feels drawn to bangle seller, Shahjahan, They Meet in a secluded place. They share their stories with each other. Yuvraj and Shahjahan lead a duel life in a society that detests homosexuality. They depart on the note of meeting again.

This film focuses on the friendship between Mabel Hampton, an African American, lesbian, and activist, and Joan Nestle, a white, lesbian and Jewish professor who is 40 years her junior. Ms. Hampton cared for Joan as a child, and roles reversed when Joan cared for Ms. Hampton at the end of her life.

Dir: Sadhana Subramaniam; 25 min; Tamil with Eng subtitles; 2018; Documentary

In March 2016, Kausalya and her husband Shankar were brutally attacked on a crowded street in southern India. Shankar, who came from a Dalit caste, died of his injuries.

Kausalya survived and accused her parents of orchestrating an honour killing. In the film, she fights for justice through the courts, testifying against her parents in a trial where they face the death penalty.
